Microsoft has extended the life of XP.....again....why? Could someone please explain to them that they need to make up their minds. Here is an idea. Dump Vista, stop support, and give everyone with Vista a free copy of Windows 7(Win7). Make XP the OS of choice for ULCPC's, and Win7 the choice for regular PC's and high end PC's. Make it VERY easy to keep files in sync between the two, meaning, I delete a file here, its deleted there too, I change the artist on an MP3 here, it is changed there, seamlessly.
The new OS should support DX10, but use the same driver structure of XP, so video cards work just as good as they do now in XP. Make Win7 look good, better than XP, but don't put the ridiculous strain on the hardware that Vista does. Please keep the search feature from Vista, I love it, and wish every computer had it, maybe even integrate it into XP, it can be done, don't say it cant.
Now then.....Windows 7 to arrive next year??? Could someone please explain why they even bothered with Vista then? Releasing a new OS AGAIN next year will only confuse people, and it will probably be half-asses again. I like my Vista, but it has its problems. Unless Microsoft is planing on replacing everyones copy of Vista with a copy of Win7, hold off for a few years, end the lifespan of Vista before XP, make XP just for low end and mobile PC's and Win7 for regular PC's. This is also the perfect time to suggest an article I wrote a while back about what Microsoft should do with the next Windows.
